I got one claiming to be from Barclays

Anonymous said...

What I find unusual about this is they mentioned 'Cheques or Postal Orders should be made payable to National Westmenister Bank PLC and sent to the address in attachment below quoting the above account number.' Which means they are accepting payment via cheques / postal orders to this address.. And the address is of an actual Debt collectio service (Sechiari, Clark and Mitchell Solicitors).

Could it therefore not be that someone working there is actually behind this, instructing the reception to send all letters / cheques / postal orders sent to Aspiring Solicitors to him / her??

just had one for exactly same ref Lloyds

Had an identical email 'from' this email : Tracie.e7@gosolarpowerforhomes.com.

Content exactly the same, bank mis-titled 'Bank of Scotland plc'. Signed off

An obvious giveaway in these messages - if one was needed - is that they refer to a 'Country' Court (instead of County).

The idiot who sent the email to me didn't even include the attachment!

Thanks for uploading this comment, we've just received this purporting to originate with Lloyds, who we do actually bank with, how are they able to accurately target in this way? Think Aspiring should try and do something about it even tho appreciate it did not originate with them!

Thanks for this advice, just got a similar email.

Anonymous said...

I also had one from "Darla McKee, Royal Bank of Scotland"

It had spelling mistakes as well and of course a real firm of solicitors would write not email.

Anonymous said...

Had same message sent to our work email supposedly from a Pearl Beard

Anonymous said...

I've had 2 since 12.30 for the same amount, one for Barclays and one for RBS. Very annoying!!

Anonymous said...

Me too...asking for a deposit to an RBS account. What a great site to warn us so quickly.

Anonymous said...

Had the same purporting to be form Lloyds. If you look at the source code for the email, I accept that most won't know how to do this. In Mozilla Thunderbird highlight the message in the list of received emails and click Ctrl+U. From this I can see that the email was sent from a Polish IP address (enter the from IP into http://www.iplocation.net/). Hardly likely to be from a legitimate source.

I use this method to check any emails, that SpamAssasin doesn't pick up, which don't obviously seem to be spam.

Other email clients usually have means to view the source code or headers, you'll need to google to find out how.

Just received TWO these same dates and amounts just different banks. Googled the company and found this blog. Saved me a lot of worry Thanks

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the alert. I too received what could be mistaken for a debt letter, but was suspicious of the email address "Vickie Castillo [Freda.cbb@buddyprince.com]" which is clearly nothing to do with Aspiring Solicitors. The £2345 amount is also suspicious, as is the Country Court but the biggest giveaway is is National Westmenister Bank.

Straight to junk!

Anonymous said...

I have just received one from a Celina Ruiz but the email address was Gilbert.dd09@fasttrade-eg.com
How can these scammers keep getting away with it?
Does my head in!!!!

Anonymous said...

I received one too but from Clara Delgado of Aspiring Solicitors supposedly acting on instructions from "Barclays plc". The sum claimed remains a remarkably consistent £2,345. However, the attachment on the email I received was a Word document and not an Excel file.

Anonymous said...

I have just received something similar but before realising what it actually was I opened the attachment by mistake.

Will this now cause me a lot of problems with my system?

Anonymous said...

I have just received this email and the originator is at an Italian isp. Note the use of the Country Court, not County Court. I have forwarded emailscams@lloydsbanking.com
with a copy but have warned them that the attachment may contain a trojan!

Has anyone forwarded this to the police? If you Google Reporting scams to the police it will point you to a website where you can submit a report and an email address where you can forward the email to.

Me too, Barclays Plc this time, the email seems to come from Spain. I also received a letter from Spain telling me I had won the Spanish lottery and would I send them my bank details - yes of course i will!! I have received many calls on my mobile, where no one speaks on the other end, and so now I ignore all numbers I don't recognize. To be targeted this comprehensively clearly means that someone has sold information on or someone has obtained this from another official source/database, such as lost CD or laptop. So, I have reported this to Barclays and will keep an eye on my accounts!! Crazy %%$$£!

Take care online all :o)

I just had one from NatWest....

I have had seven of these today, two from 'Aspiring Solicitors' and five similar from other senders.

Unknown said...

Had exactly the same email from this place. Same amounts but from NatWest bank. Never even banked with them. How these types of people get away with this is beyond me. Can we report it to the police?

Scam it is...from the horse's mouth...and breathe! :)

I manage a GP Surgery in North London and we had the same e-mail, with the same spelling mistakes. Any solicitor who can't spell words like County and Westminster would surely not be legitimate. My immediate thought was that if we incurred a debt in October, why have we not had a series of final demands over the past few months. Also, my lawyer wife tells me that such debts are not normally paid over to banks, but to the company who supplied the goods or the solicitors acting in the case.

What great information sharing an email that is from a spam soliciting company. There are always those solicitors that are real when they send you emails though so that brings up a question. Is there a way to tell that certain solicitors are real or not? Thank you for taking the time to share. http://www.sandersonssolicitors.co.uk/
